Distance of glider Journal by Derek 11 Nov 09

How to make glider fly further ?
To have a further distance we have make
1.The glider as light as possible
2.A long wing 1m as it is the max lenght
3.Airfoil shade of the wing
4.Body with a long tin rod

The bat wing shape?
It may help to glider further distance!i hope so =="

  1. Wing Shape determine the amount of drag and lift of a plane.

The lift derived by the wing, is the total sum of all the pressures acting upon its surface. Therefore, a broad wing will provide high wing loading (High pressure below the wing). However, broad wing tends to be heavily structured and induces more skin friction and hence increases drag.

As mentioned, a short and stubby wings will have low-aspect ratio (ratio of span to chord) and a long and narrow wings have high-aspect ratio.

A high aspect ratios and wing tapering will minimize drag and provide lift with minimum consumption of energy.

Therefore, Tapering in both depth of airfoil section and plan form has advantages from an aerodynamic and structure point of view.
